In class writing

for the essay by Samantha Weed I think she did an excellent job explaining the way she portrayed her character on stage and the specific movements and motions that she did that identified the way that she was feeling. She went into detail on the conflicts that she faced in the play as the actress and as the character in the play. She touched on ways to improve her overall performance. I think she could have went a little more in debt but overall it was good. She nailed the performance aspect 100 percent and she gave a lot of details on the performance and her actions in the scenes and also explained the quotes that were given in the essay. She would list a quote from the play and briefly describe the meaning and how it was reenacted on stage. I would give Samantha a 4 in the literary analysis, a  just because I think she could have gone into a little bit further depth on the meaning of Romeo and Juliet as a play and the themes that were shown in the play. Starting off in the begin...

2nd draft

(Everything in bold is new) In the play The Glass Menagerie  I choose to play the role of Amanda.  She doesn't believe that the circumstances in her life will change after the transition from talking to Jim and from talking to tom. After Amanda and toms conversation Tom  leaves because he has had enough of the disrespect and the passive behavior Amanda has been having.  Her character has reckless emotions and she takes her anger out where it is most important not to. In the play I chose to portray her character as a strong willed women who was hopeless, because while ready the book that is how I seen her character fit best. While asking myself Uta Hagen’s nine questions I found it easier for myself to grasp the role of Amanda. Starting off in the first scene of the play my group decided to do a monologue of Jim outlining the reasoning of his appearance. Jim described the way that he has strings on him and that he is in love with a girl named Betty.  This a...

self-eval

As for the literary analysis and performance piece of the paper  I think I did an even amount of both. I focused on incorporating a lot of both to even out the amounts. I think I can add more performance pieces into my second draft and say more about the props, lighting, and music to further discuss my performance. When I had someone peer edit I seen that I did include a lot of language and quotes from the book so I think I can go back and further my analysis of the quotes and add more depth to the paper.  At this point in the paper I think I have about a 13/20 and I could add a little more detail and more words and I want to also go through and fix some grammar mistakes and some writing errors  and I will be at at least a 18/20 or higher, because I have everything that I need in my paper I just have a few more key things that I can add to make my paper an A

Play review

The play Les Miserables is written by victor Hugo. I went to see this play on Friday and it is mainly about a man who has been arrested for stealing a loaf of bread. he goes to jail for 9 years i think and does hard time. when he is finally released from jail he gets taken in by a preist who feeds him and gives him shelter. the prist is doing all this good for him but jean decides to steal the silver from the table when the preist is not looking. he gets caught by the officer in charge of the prison, and the prist ends up sticking up for him. he says its okay and to let him go. this then carries into the theme that the writter of the play was trying to show which was acts of kindness.  jean uses stolen silver to reinvent himself as a mayor meanwhile no one knows about his past as an x convict. Javert wants to bring jean back to prison. years later, jean takes in a child named Cosette after her mother's death, (again to emfasize the acts of kindness that the writter of the play chos...
THESIS: She doesn't believe that anything will change after the transition from talking to Jim and to talking to tom. After toms conversation with Amanda he leaves because he's had enough and this is because of Amanda's passive behavior. Her character has reckless emotions and takes her anger out where it is most important. In the play I chose to portray her character as a strong willed women who was hopeless. Because while ready the book that is the vibe that she gave off. The theme for Amanda: hopelessness.
