2. The passage of time and its significance can be handled in many ways in poetry. Consider
the ways in which at least two poets have included aspects of time in their poetry through their
effective use of stylistic techniques.



in the poem grandmother in the stars the poem talks very in depth about the past present and future life. this is explained through the beginning middle and end of the poem. the poet is describing her grandmother and the long lasting relationship that she will continue to treasure and have for the rest of her life and afterwards. this was very effective because it she brings up all the memories that keep her grandmother still relevant and present in her life. she puts a lot of emotion into this piece especially in the beginning showing her un comfort and struggle with not having her grandmother in the present but having memories to serve as the replacement of joy that she wants.the other poem that included aspects of time in the poetry was the story the words under the words. this also was about her grandmother but in a different light. she focused on her grandmother in the present. and what she treasures about her. also the features of her grandmother that show more that was is revealed and tells a story of her character and her past. Naomi is very good at utilizing comparisons to add to her poetry. she started every stanza with my grandmother's, to show possession and compare hr grandmother to a thing. these two pieces have a lot in common. they have a lot in common because they both have a time significance. she finds a way to connect the period of time that she is dealing with to the present and she makes that time also the present.

The words that stick out to me with the sound are words like plums, icebox, delicious, sweet, and cold. I think mainly because they are feeling words and the writer probably wanted he reader to feel the words. Also in the beginning the first stanza of the poem when the writer says the plums that were in the icebox had stuck out to me because of the T sounds that I got from the poem. Also the last stanza when the writer says so sweet and so cold. The so was repeated twice to emphasize the amount of sweetness and coldness. Also the s sounds. The meaning of the poem is that whomever has eaten the plums did because of temptation and the writer is trying to have he reader feel that temptation. They didn’t really want to eat them I’m assuming but get were really hungry and they want whomever those plums were to understand the reasoning behind it. Play review: The romeo and juliet play at the park was very interesting. We were all laid out comfortably on blankets on the grass. The play started at 8:00. It was the original shakespeare play but with a twist. It started off with the scene in the village, and then went into a scene with juliet and her mother . In between the scenes they played more modern day music which i thought was entertaining because it gave the play more of a modern feel. During the play there was singing a little through out but it was mostly a straight play. The costumes that the characters in the play wore were accurate to the time period of romeo and juliet. There was a scene in the play where they foreshadowed the death of juliet when she wore a white robe that both tybalt and mercutio wore when they died. Because the play was a romance tragedy, there were two or three scenes where romeo and juliet kissed.
