poem analysis

I felt a Funeral, in my Brain, (340)

I felt a Funeral, in my Brain,
And Mourners to and fro (she is having negative thoughts goes through her brain)
Kept treading - treading - till it seemed
That Sense was breaking through - (realizes that she's going crazy)

And when they all were seated,
A Service, like a Drum -
Kept beating - beating - till I thought
My mind was going numb - (brain is so overwhelmed that if feels like her head is so overflown with these thoughts its starting to go numb)

And then I heard them lift a Box
And creak across my Soul (she feels trapped in her thoughts)
With those same Boots of Lead, again, (feels physically trapped)
Then Space - began to toll, (she feels like she has no room anymore)

As all the Heavens were a Bell,
And Being, but an Ear, (refers to heaven as peace that she doesn't hear )
And I, and Silence, some strange Race,
Wrecked, solitary, here -(again she feels trapped in solitary to her thoughts and silence to the peace that she is longing for)

And then a Plank in Reason, broke,(an escape is broken there is no way out of this )
And I dropped down, and down - (makes you feel so low)
And hit a World, at every plunge, (and you hit rock bottom every time the thoughts become overwhelming)
And Finished knowing - then - (and your sense of knowing pure thoughts and having a confidence in your thoughts are now gone and mixed thoughts come back into your head)
