Desiree ran for miles on miles through the woods and roads.
she had no wish to go back to the village
Desiree would get exhausted walking for miles on mile

she had a vision in her dream that Daniel was stretchered out in a bed sick nd in need of help
she remembers Tonton Julian saying she had a lot of ways to go
it was dark so the venders had candles that would bring light on the road, but their faces were absent
she asks the vendors if they knew about the castle and Daniel, and Gabriel but they nodded no
she told them she ws on her way to the black mountains and they all laughed at her
she kept walking into the woods
she fell asleep again in the woods
sje work up and was extremely hungry
she seen butchers, young boys selling fish, and vendors selling food
this is desires fourth day traveling
she asks a women cooking grillot if she could eat , and she asks hw much she has
Desiree has no money ad the women lets her eat and gives her more for her trip
Desiree eats it all and doesn't save any
the women told Desiree to be patient
she was brought to a road that had been hit by a storm and had fallen trees and jungle like growth
she spotted another grillot stand ad went over there patiently
she says where she's going and a man says its far but its not that far
the woman gives Desiree bread because she has no more grillot
on the seventh day Desiree came to a place where the land and sea met
there was a girl that was looking for seashells and had no parents or siblings
they had died in the storm and she was the only survivor like herself age had protected her
she talks about being in a cage and relates it to a butterfly pg.94
the little girl caught a butterfly closed her eyes and made a wish and then let it go on her sholder
she tells the girl to go to her village and stay will Tonton and mama euralie and say that Desiree sent her
she tells her to sleep in the woods the first couple of days and then stay to the roads the next
she knew that one of her wishes would be granted once she arrived at the old hut and that would be for her parents to be happy
she had entered the city that same night
she had seen so many city things she had never seen before
she seen homes with white cloth over tables
she seen people smiling and filled with laughter
sheen women and men dancing together
she stumbled over the feet of someone
she slept and then awoke that night asking for directions
the sun was out when she stood at the foot of the hill that the hotel stood
the palace was bigger than they had described it to be
she seen it was a gate in the center to the front entrance
but no one was allowed in except guest
the woman at the gate thinks Desiree is a prostitute or some type of seller, but Desiree refuses to tell her why she has come
the women lets her through the gates
she tried to squeeze through the gate once she did the guard through her back out
the sellers outside the gate laughed at her and made fun of her feet
she then ran down the hill to where the water met the land
she meet a seller and telpher whole story
she than insisted to give Desiree shoes
the woman gave her a dress shoes, and a comb fro erzulie and says all gates are hard to enter.
