chapter 6 and 7 notes

It seems that spring has started and the flowers, weeds, and grass has started to grow very vibrantly.


Vendors are on the road and peasants are out building homes, and shelters.


The spring and the beautiful flowers didn’t startle desiree she sees everyone happy and she thinks she needs to leave
Monsieur bienconnu tells desiree the story of the grande homme of the palace beauxhomme and the family and daniel her lover


He goes on to explain that daniel was on his way to see his father


He talks about how they were poor and at the time of napolean but became rich off of sugar cane, indigo, and mahogany
He built a house for his wife and named it after his family


Then he fell in love with a peasant girl who he has a son with beaufils


The son ended up fighting for the revolution and the father was fighting for france and napoleon


The fathr unded up sailing to france wounded and the son claimed his fathers mansion
For some reasn because of the father son feud the son has a curse put on him from the fsther of eye following him from across the sea


After he tells this story the only thing desiree hears is the part about the peasant girl
Desiree says she will go to the castle to see daniel


Monsieur said that she must tell her mother what she is trying to do and that it was rediculous


Desiree thinks he’s in love with her and he’s waiting for her ( monsieur doesn’t agree and says they can never be together)


This makes desiree very sad and she walks home


When she gets home she sees her tonton she tells him she has to leave


He worns her that it wil be dangerous and she will die


Mama euralie hears them and disagrees.


Mama eralie brought Desiree through the forest to ask the gods to help Desiree wt her mind and heart 

 she pulled Desiree along and Desiree pulled back but mama pulled harder

 they start to hear drum beats 

 Desiree sees papa ge and screams 

 dancers from the village gathered in a circle and danced around them 

 houngfor was hanging as mama eurline called to speak to the gods 

 In the altar stood a madonna and a candle 

 a voice claiming to be the parent of Desiree says they miss her. 

 he said he left her so that she could live

 once the voice stopped the body crumbles up and dies and the people brig him sousde.

This is just to say

The words that stick out to me with the sound are words like plums, icebox, delicious, sweet, and cold. I think mainly because they are feeling words and the writer probably wanted he reader to feel the words. Also in the beginning the first stanza of the poem when the writer says the plums that were in the icebox had stuck out to me because of the T sounds that I got from the poem. Also the last stanza when the writer says so sweet and so cold. The so was repeated twice to emphasize the amount of sweetness and coldness. Also the s sounds. The meaning of the poem is that whomever has eaten the plums did because of temptation and the writer is trying to have he reader feel that temptation. They didn’t really want to eat them I’m assuming but get were really hungry and they want whomever those plums were to understand the reasoning behind it. Desiree ran for miles on miles through the woods and roads. she had no wish to go back to the village Desiree would get exhausted walking for miles on mile she wasn't afraid when she was in the forest because the animals where her friends she found a tree to lie her head and went to sleep the gods grew to a bigger size in her dreams she seen ague, erzulie, papa ge, and Osaka she had a vision in her dream that Daniel was stretchered out in a bed sick nd in need of help she remembers Tonton Julian saying she had a lot of ways to go it was dark so the venders had candles that would bring light on the road, but their faces were absent she asks the vendors if they knew about the castle and Daniel, and Gabriel but they nodded no she told them she ws on her way to the black mountains and they all laughed at her she kept walking into the woods she fell asleep again in the woods sje work up and was extremely hungry she seen butchers, young boys selling fish, an...

Play review: The romeo and juliet play at the park was very interesting. We were all laid out comfortably on blankets on the grass. The play started at 8:00. It was the original shakespeare play but with a twist. It started off with the scene in the village, and then went into a scene with juliet and her mother . In between the scenes they played more modern day music which i thought was entertaining because it gave the play more of a modern feel. During the play there was singing a little through out but it was mostly a straight play. The costumes that the characters in the play wore were accurate to the time period of romeo and juliet. There was a scene in the play where they foreshadowed the death of juliet when she wore a white robe that both tybalt and mercutio wore when they died. Because the play was a romance tragedy, there were two or three scenes where romeo and juliet kissed.
