1. Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study where a change of atmosphere impacts on the characters and/or the course of events. By paying due attention to the context of the passage, show how such a passage might be dramatized for an audience.

-When Daniel is found by desiree 
-this changes the course of the book
-new character 
-makes desires destiny change 
-adds a conflict to the story 
-makes the villagers frantic and unsure 
-'I promised to care for this man, whoever he come until he's well. or until his soul crosses over to the nan guinee. "
- desiree has promised the gods she would take care of Daniel until he is well which is a change to the book 


4. Select a passage from the concluding chapter of a novel you have chosen to study and show how acting, staging effects and design can combine to make it an effective ending for an audience.

-I would choose the scene where desiree is trampled for example 
-this is exciting 
-would bring a reaction out of the audience
-would give the audience a very exciting feeling
-change the dynamic and making the ending jaw dropping
-stunt person who would show they are really getting trampled
-have desiree lying there alone and dragged off stage to add a dramatic ending
"picking up the corpse by an arm and a leg, he dumped it at the side of the road to await the garbage collectors. "

5. Select a passage from a novel you have chosen to study which provides an effective introduction of an important character or characters. How would you use staging, design and acting to ensure that this introduction would have dramatic importance for the audience?

-the part where Gabriel comes to get his son
-this shows the difference between classes 
-scene where Daniels father goes to pick up Daniel.
-show the difference between Gabriel and his higherarchy
-wippes off his shoes as if he is brushing them off
-acts very arrogant and stuck up
-stage would have some type of platform where Daniel will come from
-mud, dirt, huts and weeds
-daniel's father Gabriel will be dressed properly in a suit and shoes
-peasants will be dressed in cloths sewn together, handmade clothing, and dirty legs and feet.
-this can show Gabriels unawareness of the way that peasants lived
-make this dramatic by showing the expressions and the way that desiree feels when Daniel is carried away by his father and dramatize the way she looks up at him as he leaves.
"desiree stood her cotton dress torn beneath the armpits, her black skin exposed, the toes of her feet digging down into the mud. she looked up at the helicopter as different from the rest, as it grew small, smaller, then disappeared. unshed tears brightened her eyes. the saddened man had not seen her"
