he is the person that tells the people about the different gods and what they do
the book takes place in the peasant village on the side of the island with mountains forest, and hills
monsier bien connu talks about the asaka goddess of earth, of plants, and of all growing things. the peasants worship her because she ranges through the hills on the mountaintops.
age is the god of the sea and many waters. he adored the asaka goddess, and nourished the fruits of her work.
the mama eurile ad papa Tonton had a rough day when they found Desiree (she was referred to as the peasant girl at first)
they don't believe that the gods saved the child but it was a scheme of ague.
Tonton takes Desiree in even though she is just another stomach to fill. (at the time it was really hard for hem to even eat for themselves and they were living in a shake but they had a generous spirit)
despite the hard conditions she always has love for her family because of this.
