Adaptation project

If I was to do a modernized version of Romeo and Juliet I would change the conflict a little and I would make it more of Juliet’s parents not wanting her to marry out of her race. I would make There Be 3?character. There would be Romeo, Juliet,Paris, and Lord Capulet. The scenes I would incorporate would be the the party scene when they meet for the first time, the scene where Romeo and Juliet got married, the scene when Juliet is alone in her room thinking about Romeo and she gets the news of marrying Paris, and Romeo getting banished, and  last scene I would add would be the death scene but instead of Romeo and Juliet dieing Juliet would kill herself when she hears of Romeo she banishment alone in her room and her father will find her and that will be the end. I would choose these 4 scenes because the grasp the overall consent of the play. I would have the play always take place at night to symbolize that their love is dark.  I would make Romeo wear modern street  clothes and Juliet would have on a long dress or something that is very simple and classy. Lord Capulet would wear a expensive suit or something that shows dignity, wealth, and power. The party scene would be a normal teenage party but it would have all girls, and it would be at Juliet’s house. Romeo would show up uninvited. I would make sure to show how teenage boys act and how they are immature. This would help show the contrast between how Juliet was “raised” vs the way that Romeo was raised. But the love that Romeo has for Juliet is created based on the first impression.  I think this would appeal to the modern audience because there are a lot of culture and races that only marry in there race or ethnic group. This is sometimes a struggle for some people because they find love outside of their race. This will especially be hard for Juliet because her parents would have found a different man for her that was in their race and fit the mold of their ideal husband. The theme would be judgement and love. I would want to show the way Romeo really cares about Juliet and is immature but knows that he is in love. Also I would want to show how much Lord Capulet wanted Juliet to marry Paris, and how important it would mean to him to continue the family race and also be able to communicate with her husband in his native language. The emotion would be strong when it comes to the way Romeo feels about Juliet’s parents. I would emphasize that because Romeo knows that he genuinely has a good heart and cares about Juliet and would never hurt her. At the end I would show Romeo gettin banished to mancheria and her parents telling her how bad of a person Romeo is, and saying I told you so, he is a villain. Then Juliet would hear that he marriage was arranged and disagree to marrying him, and then take her life alone in her room.

This is just to say

The words that stick out to me with the sound are words like plums, icebox, delicious, sweet, and cold. I think mainly because they are feeling words and the writer probably wanted he reader to feel the words. Also in the beginning the first stanza of the poem when the writer says the plums that were in the icebox had stuck out to me because of the T sounds that I got from the poem. Also the last stanza when the writer says so sweet and so cold. The so was repeated twice to emphasize the amount of sweetness and coldness. Also the s sounds. The meaning of the poem is that whomever has eaten the plums did because of temptation and the writer is trying to have he reader feel that temptation. They didn’t really want to eat them I’m assuming but get were really hungry and they want whomever those plums were to understand the reasoning behind it. Play review: The romeo and juliet play at the park was very interesting. We were all laid out comfortably on blankets on the grass. The play started at 8:00. It was the original shakespeare play but with a twist. It started off with the scene in the village, and then went into a scene with juliet and her mother . In between the scenes they played more modern day music which i thought was entertaining because it gave the play more of a modern feel. During the play there was singing a little through out but it was mostly a straight play. The costumes that the characters in the play wore were accurate to the time period of romeo and juliet. There was a scene in the play where they foreshadowed the death of juliet when she wore a white robe that both tybalt and mercutio wore when they died. Because the play was a romance tragedy, there were two or three scenes where romeo and juliet kissed.
