In class writing
yesterday what we did in class was perform three different skits. All three were about Romeo and Juliet. The first group which I was in we had 1 minute to make up a our skit. We decided to make one person be the narrator (which was me) and one person was going to be Juliet (and we were going to highlight her in the whole play) and the third person was going to play multiple characters. We started off by trying to capture all the scenes of Romeo and Juliet but that didn't end up working so we split it up into the conflict of Romeo and Juliet, the romance, and then the tragedy. We felt like these three things were the most important in making the skit for someone who has never heard of Romeo and Juliet to get the concept of the play. The second group had 2 minutes to perform their peace, and what they did was basically open up at the party scene of Romeo and Juliet. They highlighted mostly the romance, and how quickly the two fell in love with each other, then the tragedy, and how quickly they died. The third group had only 30 seconds to portray Romeo and Juliet and basically their three caracters were Romeo, Juliet, and Paris, and they showed the conflict between Juliets love. All three plays showed the romance part of Romeo and Juliet, some type of conflict and the tragedy of death. Though there is more to the story of Romeo and Juliet these were the main three points that all three groups incorporated into their skits. Something that we all needs to work on was the timing and the accuracy of the character roles, because Romeo and Juliet has so many characters that was sometimes hard to portray two or more characters.
